ACT NOW: Demand N.C. Lawmakers Hear North Carolina's CROWN Act
We believe no one should have to compromise their hair or cultural identity to work, learn and play in North Carolina.
Following a hair discrimination incident last month involving a young softball player at Hillside High School in Durham, we have called on Durham to expand its “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair” (or CROWN) Act, to include students.
At the same time, North Carolina lawmakers could consider legislation like Senate Bill 165 and House Bill 170 — timely bills that would enact a North Carolina CROWN Act, barring discrimination statewide against persons based on traits historically associated with race, hair texture, or hairstyle.
ACT NOW: Tell your N.C. Lawmakers it’s time to support a North Carolina CROWN Act.
